1394b hits home video and audio products

Texas Instruments introduces first 1394b products….

The availability of IEEE 1394b devices enables much greater distances and higher performance for home networking and entertainment applications such as whole house video and audio. The plug-and-play, quality of service and other ease-of-use features inherent to FireWire provide consumers with a user-friendly home entertainment networking system.
The new device TSA41BA43 increases comm cap. to 100 meters ver Cat5, glass optical fiber (GOF) or plastic optical fiber (POF) and is backward compatible to the older 1394a devices (which is the killer-criteria for the success of this new tech).

Availabilty is given from today, so lets wait for the first consumer products carrying 1394b!
