but – no back-pack for this wide profile notebook offered??? – I suppose that's a new formfactor or so… but I don't want to have the weight of this goodie on one shoulder everyday – still remember the old donkey-trip with my previous configuration.

and – where are the good reviews from the mags? all I found was a PCW review for the October issue ... to new or what? any hints or review-links are highly appreciated…

With this top-book@1gig you should get the top-performance for mobile development – especially Java + Database + Appserver on a notebook could kill other configurations soon.

btw: this is no marketing rave, I will get this notebook next and report about it.

Ok, two reviews found already:

Looks like the build of the keyboard is not so perfect… and the 1900 resolution seems to be an overkill for the Earthweb folks…

Thanks to Google News Alert Service – but unfortunately another link to infoworld was simply dead... hmmm

another article at pcpro required user-registration… I just wonder how the google-guys to that… or the CMS onsite?

and cnet promises a full review soon…

Hot Highperf Dell Inspiron 8600 Review

I recently got the Dell Inspiron 8500 which has the same wide 15.4" screen that the 8600 has. It JUST did fit into my Targus backpack for laptops.

Hot Highperf Dell Inspiron 8600 Review

I just got an Inspiron 8500. It runs hot, this is one WARM laptop. In the long term this must affect the computers innards. I bought the 3 year warranty and imagine i will be using it quite a bit. Also, the DVD burner is an NEC DVD+RW ND-5100 which has region settings on it. Mine came configured as a US machine, I am in Australia and I only have one change left - which is my first change ever. I am very dissapointed that my laptop can travel with me but the DVD player restricts where I can use it. DELL should have warned me first and I wouldn't have bought the DVD option. The screen is awesome but there is a invisible line across the middle where you can move the mouse pointer and it disappears from view. Apart from the DVD issue, it's a pretty good laptop, although it is pretty heavy, Oh, the bag .. What's up with that ? I got the deluxe leather case and it's nowhere near as good as my last DELL laptop bag. The laptop just fits but accessing stuff in the bag is counter intuitive.
