LZW compression patent expired - algo is free finally

The compression algo of the infamous GIF file format is now free for everyone… very fine… I remember a source code CD I bought 10 yrs ago for my new Mitsumi single-speed CD rom where that code was already on – in standard C of course… I used it for my mailbox compression tools, just like zillions of other programmers implemented it… well… now it's legal :-)
