Siemens FSC Lifebook P7010 - lost the deal because of a 10 EUR saving... sorry

What a wonderful device – Siemens Lifebook P7010 - a sub notebook reviewed e.g. here with perfect setup of long battery life time, great display, a bigger than usual sub notebook keyboard…

siemens-fsc-lifebook-p7010full.jpg

It weights less than half of my Inspiron 8600 (1,4 kg instead of 3+ kg) and runs probably at least same time – the folks at C'T and trustedreviews measured 4+ hours… fantastic…

BUT: even tough they have a centrino certificed 54g WLAN the engineers forgot to implement the bluetooth chip – and in contrast to Dell & others they don't even offer it as an Add-On … (it's a mini-pci addon in my DELL Inspiron 8600 ) ... and they don't have IRDA

So they don't offer any way builtin to couple my Sony Ericsson P800 wireless.

And I am not going to pay 2000+ EUR for this hot thing and then carry the phone cable with me for the case that I might want to dial up somewhere via GPRS... for sure not…

Sorry FSC - these 10EUR production price saved made you lose the deal… I am going to take a Sony VAIO T1XP/L or TR5MP , both equipped similar and including the Bluetooth chip.

Yes, too bad it does not have Bluetooth built-in. However, you can buy a very small Bluetooth adapter that you can plug into USB port of the notebook.

it is a wonderful laptop, I just bought one and I came here right because I was looking if there was an internal bluetooth add-on..

anyway, if I hadn't the possibility to test this machine before I bought it and if it costed me the usual price (2300 EUR) I would probabily go for the Vaio either (if I had that money :)

but as I tested it and my price was less than half, I have no doubt about this..

And as to the bluetooth issue, I just got an add-on CF card like this one: http://www.expansys.pt/i/b/b101459.jpg

This one doesn't even stick it's nose out of the notebook..

There are some SD card bluetooth adapter also, but I choose this one because I often use the SD card reader and barely use the CF card option.

Best regards

radix.
