There are still many really old virus-generations out there… this server is being attacked on regular basis by standard worms aswell as script kiddies brute force attacks …
checkout the last months attack pie by the Tipping Point protection my host has…

this are the stats for cemper.com ONLY !
again I can say: you get what you pay for… does your low-cost $29 server have such protections in front, included staff able to maintan/monitor/fix it ?
on Nimda attacks:
Nimda attacks attempt to exploit the IIS/PWS (Personal Web Server) Escaped Character Decoding Command Execution Vulnerability. The Microsoft patch that fixes this problem is MS01-026, available at: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS01-026.asp Nimda attempts to propagate itself to new victims via four distinct mechanisms: by infecting vulnerable IIS servers, by email, by modifying infected web sites so that users viewing pages from that site are infected, and by modifying files on writable network shares. on Code Red attacks:
Code Red II exploits a buffer overflow vulnerability in Microsoft IIS Servers (Version 4.0 and 5.0) on Windows 2000 and NT as well as Cisco 600 series DSL routers. The Code Red II worm causes system level compromise and leaves a backdoor on certain machines running Windows 2000.
