HTTP File size limit exceeded (25)

if you find crap messages like

[Fri Apr 29 13:39:00 2005] [notice] child pid 29637 exit signal File size limit exceeded (25)

in your httpd error log at /etc/httpd/logs/error_log

then it's a good guess to look if you access_log in the same directory

has reached it's 2 GB limit…

Actually I was not aware the RedHat Enterprise Linux has such a filesize restriction… and that error message – well… pretty crappy without extra information about the file I could have spent hours looking for the reason…

    The watchdog table grew FASTER than the cron job (which should delete old log entries older than e.g. 3 days) would have deleted it.

    This again ended in a “device full” last night when one watchdog table became 5 gigs.
