As of this week , the Google-aquired urchin product – now named Google Analytics is free to all webmasters of the world.
This is a major step in Google providing tools and infrastructure for the web – and for sure not the last one… I even heard people talking about the new "Googl e Internet" to come in the next years – and perform better on a google owned backbone infrastructure
Google Analytics has all the features you'd expect from a high-end analytics offering. It also provides tightly integrated AdWords support, so you can view AdWords ROI metrics without having to import cost data or add keyword tracking codes… means you can perform a sophisticated click-stream analysis with this tool.
Google Analytics is a hosted service that runs on the same servers that power Google. From large, high-traffic corporate sites to small sites, Google Analytics delivers consistent service.
As this service (previously Urchin Analytics) formerly cost $199.00 a month, it isn't surprising that a LOT of people already want to sign up.
Just add a simple bit of (javascript) tracking code to your page and Google takes over tracking visitors, giving you everything you could possibly want to know and more.
The major concern here is privacy – and I heard a lot of Googler's promising they won't use the data for their own "evil" needs or even hand them out to others… well – up to you to believe, but I'll try this service on site soon – maybe this one.
