A crazy script, a bad firewall config and a nice weekend with my girlfriend…
now I got the following answer when connecting to my POP mailbox
+OK You have 45819 messages totaling 96581259 octets from /home/cemper/mail/cemper.com/christoph/inbox (partial cache v9)
Very nice… I managed to download/delete aprox 3000 of bogus mails I got since Saturday… but this is a real performance issue obviously…
I tried Thunderbird – it crashed and told me it's inbox is corrupt
I tried outlook – it allowed me to download aprox 3000 headers and delete from them…
any clues how to get rid of thousands of "warning" mails I got from that script?
I could identify them by subject and by sender…
but which tool let's me operate FAST on the inbox?
best would be direct manipulation of that inbox on the linux server…
what makes it worse is that I cannot download todays mails or any mails I got on the weekend because they are somewhere in that heap of 40k mails… :-(
any help is much appreciated!
