Great Fun - Tricked into recurring charges

I just found one everlasting thread on DP about a sort of consumer scam with "TLG*GREATFN" transactions on Credit Card statement ...

From what I read that company implements popups right after they buying process ends (and the card was charged the first time) and trick the users into signing up for a "free voucher and coupon club month" ... yes month…

  • people don't read the fine print
  • after the first month people forget about it
  • and the company performs legit charges to the card of 8.99 or 9.99

Of course this migth all be legal (in the US) and the "Great Fun" peopel seem to be very generous with chargebacks – but heck – if 1 out of 100 clients calls them they CAN be generous for giving back their payments… :-)

Well – just another scam you might think… what I find especially interesting in this is that huge company brands like buy.com or hotwire.com seem to not only team up with that company, but also and especially allow them a co-registration placement right after they won a new (hopefully loyal customer)
