Why sproutit.com is not a mail solution

Sproutit.com has it's positioning as a convenient emailing solution for teams to handle common mailboxes… and I signed up for a test account just an hour ago…

While I like the idea of "suggesting responses" I couldn't mail enough to see that feature…

Right, I "could not mail"...

Major reasons why my mail communication would suffer – at a pretty steep price

  • no Multi Select : folks, when I'm tagging multiple mails from an alert service, a client or just want to UN-Spam your tons of false positives I need to do that for multiple mails at once
  • animations: I like Ajax and JS animations, but THESE ARE TOOO SLOW... I'm getting crazy waiting for 2 seconds to see a false positve spam get unspammed
  • Spam detection: well, that's tough… too many false positives: PayPal.com is spam, text-link-ads.com is spam, heck – even alert mails from theplanet.com where spam according to that tool… combined with the two above problems it's a hassle
  • html-mails? no thanks… all html mails arrive horrible formatted in a so-so text style… I wouldn't want to read the crappy result of a html-to-hopefully well styled txt formt converter

Well – I stopped testing it today… will need another solution, and will revisit this solution in 1-2 years maybe…

Hi,

Thanks for giving your feedback about Mailroom. I wanted to let you know that we plan to roll out a big update in the next month or so that will address many of the issues you raise. The update will include multiple select and faster animations with HTML mail coming a bit later (we need to make sure we can avoid cross-site scripting and other hacking attacks that can be done through this).

Spam is always an ongoing battle between avoiding false-positives and catching phishing schemes and such. We will keep improving this until we get to almost 100%. In the meantime, our next update will include the option to turn spam filtering off if you don't receive that much junk mail anyway.

that's good to hear. I must admit that the overall layout , simplicity and such is very tempting already ...

I just think to myself how many hours I spent to train my current spam filter chain that I use : namely

- redirect to gmail,
- download stuff again into K9 locally
- and let Outlook finally pick some more Junk mail

I'm sure spendign some hours with your bayesian would have made the experience even better...
