I am puzzled to see the following message in my adwords account this morning
On January 13, 2007, AdWords system will be unavailable from approximately 7:00 PM to January 14, 2007 12:00 AM Vienna due to system maintenance. Please note that your campaigns will continue to run normally during this short downtime. We apologize for any inconvenience. |
This is a maintenance windows of 17 – seventeen – hours !
Rocks. I don't know what Google needs to build in that time, but obivously 17 hours are enough to transfer w shitload of data around the world or at least a ton of terabytes from one database to the other
With the adwords interface beeing slow and even stupid simple Adwords Api calls being charged a hell lot of money I assume Google still needs to ramp up to deliver a somewhat acceptable service or at least offer good response rates for thos people that pay to use Adwords programatically
An example price ? Google wants you to pay over 600 dollars if you add around 50,000 different keywords to your campaign – means you REALLY need to pay twice.. once for the click and once for the order… crazy?
However – a 17 hour downtime is pretty tough – I remember SLAs from already 10 years ago from online wagering systems with less then half an hour per 24 hour limit… sounds like Google's (adwords) infrastructure is NOT that google aaah – cool.
