Skype & Yahoo Messenger combo VOIP appliance

I cannot believe I haven’t posted to this blog for 2 months – well, my studies, thesis, new office (finally in, it’s great!) and the SES in NYC really “distracted” me … also I’m currently on a hiring-mission, trying to find some good local talent after a lot offshore-stress.

What I’m currently looking for is a phone appliance to handle my Skype and Yahoo Messenger Voice accounts.

currently it seems there are only a couple of Skype-able phone

and just ONE yahoo messenger capable phone from Linksys – the Linksys CT310 Yahoo phone

THAT one – the comments and feedback look horrible… actually the first time I saw so many negative reviews on Amazon…

Any suggestions? Which combo phone to buy?

Fritzbox does standard SIP, but Skype/Yahoo are non-standard

Hey,

thanks for that input - but the problem with both Yahoo Messenger Phone-In and Skype-In Numbers are that both companies implemented proprietary protocols

this means that i'm locked into their service and CAN NOT use *any* kind of
standard VOIP service or appliance out there...

If I knew about that horrible lockin I would definately have NOT purchased numbers and printed them on all kinds of marketing material --- but now I have...

so I have to look for devices that implement that damn propriertarism of those two "big" ones.
