The past 3 months have been pretty silent… only the past 3 months?

Today Dec-3-2007 I’m sitting in my hotel in Chicago, close to leaving to Las Vegas for the WebmasterWorld – so another week travel in the US on business purpose and I certainly started to question if this specific blog still servers it’s original purpose.

If you look at my about page you see that I started this as the first of several blogs back in June 2003 … and this weblog certainly was a funny ventile to use for all sorts of interesting discoveries I made in the online world. be it Google’s pagerank, IBM’s patents, some new gadget stuff or whatever the Oracle and Java world announced…

The post frequencies of up to 10 posts per day were certainly motivated for some time by the Google Adsense program, but frankly, since they kicked me out of the program for alleged click-fraud that the first time I found so many other good money-making opportunities that I can hardly imagine spending hours a day just writing down stuff I just found.

Frankly the past 4,5 years of this blog were like a discovery in the online world, documenting all kinds of things I found interesting – but probably of a very short lifetime span, and essentially most of the 1200 posts have nothing to do with what I think or do today.

After all the real business issues of internet marketing, SEO, link trading, buying, selling whatever and all related tools and findings are documented in my – also rather lightly frequented – Marketing Blog at MarketingFan and it’s recently started germanish sister site

Documenting some cool Drupal features or modules here is what I did mostly, but in fact these are documented and promoted very well on the Drupal platform as well… so the whole CMS issue I’ve been chasing for years has been settled in favor of Drupal more than 2 years ago …

Should I write here about our internal projects like

• a CRM evaluation
• a billing system implementation
• super-cool backend features for improving our SEO processes and workflows

• private hacks to make our request tracker Mantis even better

or should I introduce all our new employees here, along with announcements when they get promoted or leave?

More generic issues of project managemant and leadership can be covered in detail in my special project management blog, so again this is a special spin-off from this weblog.

Right now I realize I definitely need to re-structure and re-think what to do with this blog and it’s traffic – after all some pages here are hit a couple thousand times a month and certainly help visitors… but the initial all-you-can-write blog here has been over for at least 3 years… probably since my business really started to take off

Keeping in mind that I still run more specific blogs, special client newsletters, got my own company, office and employees this is such a big difference to the time back in June 2003 that I can hardly imagine any use but shutting down this blog for good and re-using some of the link juice it has for other projects or sites…
