Logitech MX Revolution product managers on crack

So this is the days of product managers on crack

After having the second Logitech MX1000 mouse middle button broken (not triggering all the times) I thought I really need to buy a new model – in hopes that this would not happen again after 6 months of power-usage…

So I ordered the best new model out there – the Logitext MX revolution, got it just an hour ago – just to find out that the wheel button is abused for switching between normal wheel and a frictionless wheel (which in fact is a fake, as you still got scroll-steps in your windows)

So instead of getting a powerful working new middle button I got this horrible mouse with NO middle button at all :-[ yikes

This really made me think the Logitech’ers are not even building mouses which middle buttons break after 6-12 months, but are really high on crack to ship such a non-standard behaviour as default and then hide the way to switch it off that good …

Yes, right – they implemented a way to turn this crappy “revolution” off – and I found it here … and it’s only 7 steps or so to switch your revolutionary mouse to a normal wheel mouse…

grmpf… I hope this post helps somebody out there to decide on which mouse to buy or how to make the Revolution work as ordered

....

PS: why not buy Microsoft mouses? because microsoft pm’s suck even more and do not ship their mice with rechargeable batteries at all – not even in the top models…

PPS: I just found another way to tweak the functions of your logitech MX revolution using uberOptions which I found here at Alex’s blog ... By using this tool I can even change the function of the little top button as middle-click … this prev. only allowed for a so called search-function (which caused simple blank screen in opera…) .. good thing is that the pressing-power required for that button is close to zero, so I can save some energy now :-)

A good thing to buy new products a couple months after launch, so that you can be sure many others already went thru the same hassles as you do… probably…
